Snicker Apple Salad

My friend and I found this recipe on Pinterest and decided to give it a try! We tweaked the recipe just a tad!

Ingredients:

- Cool whip
- Bag of Snicker Minis
- 4 green apples
- Vanilla Pudding
- Milk for pudding
- 1tsp Coca Powder

First whisk up the pudding mixture with the milk- set aside

Slice and cut up the apples and Snickers to bite size pieces (may need to freeze Snickers for easier cutting)

Add the pudding mixture to the whip cream and fold in- Add the apples and the Snickers to the bowl and stir

Pour it in a nice pretty bowl and garnish it with Coco Powder- We wanted brown sugar but didn't have any so Coco powder it was we came up with!

This was so easy to make and taste great!

Sip and See vs. Baby Shower

The new trend this year instead of a Baby Shower is Sip and See.  Are you wondering what a Sip and See is?

Well instead of inviting all your girlfriends to come to play baby shower games and touch your stomach! You can invite your family and friends to come see your newborn baby! Its the new thing that is trending in 2013.  Its not just for the ladies anymore, you can have the boys be part of the fun too!

When we had Mila in 2012 we had a lot of out of town relatives that wanted to see her. So we decided to have a Meet Mila Party! It was a month after she was born when we had the party. I got her newborn photos developed into a book so everyone could see them. We didn't play your typical baby shower games we just had a nice lunch and showed off our lil miracle.

It was nice because my husband could be part of opening gifts (I hate opening gifts in front of everyone-it makes you feel like you have to "oOoo and aww" every time you open something) ha ha.  We had lots of family and friends come meet her and had a great time. So if you want something different or if its your second child you can always have a Sip and See party!

Crochet Flower Headband

My friend wanted me to make a headband for a gift she was giving to her sister-in-law, and we decided to go with a beige band and a turquoise flower.

Materials:
-US J (6mm) hook
-Yarn Needle
-2 Buttons

Abbreviations:
ch- (Chain)
sc- (Single crochet)
dc- (Double crochet)
Sl st (Slip stich)
BL (Back loop)
FL (Front loop)
sts (Stiches)
tr (treble)
* * (repeat directions between * * as many times as indicated)

Headband:

Ch 6
Row 1: Dc in fourth ch from hook (skipped 3 chs count as dc), dc in next 2 dc, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each dc across. Turn
Row 3: (increase): Ch3, dc in first sc, dc in each sc across, ending 2 dc in last sc. (6dc)
Repeat Rows 2-3 until you have a total of 10 sts. Turn.
Now work even in the sc row, dc row pattern, until you have 36 rows total.
Decrease Dc Row: Ch 3, dc2tog, dc in each sc across to last 2 sc, dc2tog (8dc) Turn.
Next Row: Ch 1, sc in each dc across. Turn.
Repeat Decrease Dc Row (6dc) Turn.
Next Row: Ch 1, sc in each dc across. Turn.
Repeat Decrease Dc Row (4dc) Turn.
Next Row: Ch 1, sc in each dc across. Turn.
Buttonhole: Ch 5, skip 3 sc, sl st in last sc. Ch 1, turn to work over loop, 6 sc in loop. Do not fasten off.
Edging: Continue to sc across long edge, working 2 sc in each dc row end and 1 sc in each sc row end. Work 2 sc in corners. S; st to first sc at end, fasten off.

Flower:

Ch  5, Join with sl st to beg ch to form ring.
Row 1: Ch 1, work 10 sc in ring, join with a sl st to FL of 1st sc. (10sc)
Row 2: Working in FL of sts, (ch3, dc in same st, ch3, sl s) in same st, *(sl st in next st, ch 3, dc in same)* repeat from *to* to end, join to BL of 1st sc in row 1. (10 petals)
Row 3: Working in BL of sts, (ch 4, 2 tr in same, ch 4, sl st) in same, *(sl st in next, ch 4, 2 tr in same, ch 4 sl st in same)*,  repeat from *to* to end, fasten off and eave in ends (10 petals)

For the button I use 1 in the center of the flower and one for the button hole. You can sew the outer petals of the flower onto the headband or I hot glued it onto the band. Sew the button at the end of headband without the buttonhole.

I just got my ears pierced!

6 month birthday gift to Mila- She told me she wanted them :) We picked out her birthstone. She didn't seem to happy at first but she will thank us later.

Mila's Nursery

When I found out I was pregnant, I was excited to start designing a nursery for him/her! I was happy to say that we were having a girl and I couldn't wait to see all the design possibilities. I didn't want your typical themed nursery of a certain cartoon character, I wanted something she could grow into. So, I wanted to design a sophisticated modern nursery.

It started off with chevron! Of course everyone was doing the chevron thing but who cares! I loved the gray and modern aspects of chevron. I wanted to stick with 3 colors for the room, so, pink, gray & white were my colors.

I needed a focal point in the room and I knew that is where I wanted to add Mila's name on the wall. I wanted to paint the room in chevron stripes but I thought it would be too hard! We decided to go with regular horiztonal stripes.  We painted the lightest color first, Behr interior flat in Serengeti dust. Our wall measured 8ft so we made the stripes 12". We put blue tape down so we could paint the stripes Behr high gloss in Compass.

I found some ideas on Pinterest that showed me different ways to display names. So the "M" for Mila was a DIY Project. I got some flowers, hot pink ribbon and a paper mache "M" from JoAnn Fabrics and hot glued them onto the "M". I also hot glued hot pink ribbon around the "M" to give it a finished look.
